[Intro]
(Instrumental Solo)
[Verse 1]
Through halls hewn old of dust and bone
The Six pressed onward, all alone
Past splintered doors and walls worn thin
Where no living soul had walked or been
Rot hung heavy, thick and foul
As something dead beneath the ground
No crumb remained of feasts long gone
Only decay that breathed and hung
Beroth clamped his mouth against the stench
Zelprime watched the southern trench
Wizkim slipped through shadowed gloom
While Arius searched each silent room
Viper's scales caught torchfire red
Grog marched steady at the head
Then from the black a low growl rose
A hungry thing that smelled their bones
[Chorus]
Beware the Troll! Beware the Den!
The monster comes to feed again!
Claws like knives and eyes of hate
Guarding Halaster's rotten feast!
Steel rang loud and hammers fell
Echoing through the ancient halls!
The beast was strong, the beast was grim
But none could stand against the Six!
[Verse 2]
Hunched in shadow crouched the brute
On bones of fools that came before
Its claws were caked with blood and grout
A nightmare that would not wear out
It lunged like lightning, wild and fast
Its shadow stretched across the vast
Cold chamber where a hundred died
And none had ever left alive
Viper struck with serpent speed
Beroth answered fire with flame
Arius crushed its ribs apart
Zelprime's arrow found the heart
Wizkim's blades cut through the dark
Left crimson trails like dying sparks
Grog roared loud and drove right through
And smashed the monster through the floor
Fire ate its healing flesh
Silence fell upon the den at last
[Chorus]
Beware the Troll! Beware the Den!
The monster shall not feed again!
Fire and steel and courage true
Brought an end to Halaster's tool!
The beast was strong, the beast was grim
But none could stand against the Six!
[Verse 3]
Past the den the heroes found
The feast halls buried underground
Tables stretched through dust and gloom
Ghosts of banquets long consumed
Each dawn the rot appeared anew
Bound by the Mad Mage's wicked rune
For years the troll had dragged the meat
To feed the horrors underneath
A copper tankard stood alone
Upon a dais carved of stone
Beside it lay a dwarf long dead
Her quest unspoken, her oath unsaid
And deeper still the danger waited
Winged, cruel, and hungry still
[Verse 4]
Within a cavern paved with bones
Three manticores had made their thrones
On nests of rags and rotting cloth
They watched the strangers wander forth
Lion flesh and dragon wing
Scorpion tail with iron sting
All three roared as one and charged
Hatred screaming through the dark
Spikes erupted through the air
Deadly rain from everywhere
The stone thundered with their cries
Death came falling from the skies
[Chorus]
Manticores! Manticores!
Guardians of forgotten wars!
Talons sharp and poisoned rain
Filling caverns with their pain!
Yet the heroes would not flee
They answered with ferocity!
Steel and spell and courage bright
Turned the darkness into light!
[Verse 5]
One dove straight for Zelprime's throat
Her arrow punched right through its throat
It spiraled screaming from the air
And crashed among its own foul lair
Second charged at Arius
Claws outstretched to tear him loose
His hammer rose like rolling thunder
Shattered bone and hide asunder
Viper leapt from stone to stone
Fists hit harder than thrown stone
Wizkim vanished from their sight
Struck again from out behind
Beroth's rage lit up the cave
Lightning, flame and arcane wave
Last beast spread its mighty wings
Met Grog charging full swing
Blade bit deep and clean and true
Last manticore fell through
[Final Chorus]
Manticores! Manticores!
Now they guard these halls no more!
Troll and monsters, claw and fang
Fell before the heroes' stand!
Through Undermountain's endless night
The Six continued every fight!
From feast hall rot to winged despair
Victory followed everywhere!
[Outro]
Troll lay charred upon the stone
Manticores were overthrown
Somewhere deep the Mad Mage smiled
Watching heroes test the wild
Every beast they laid below
Leads further where brave fools must go
And the song ran down the dungeon walls:
"Tholl the Troll was burned to ash
Three manticores were brought to ruin
And the Six walked onward into darkness."
