I O List ye now, good folk of night, For Heven kindles wondrous light; A Babe is born in lowly stall, The Lord of Grace, the King of All. Rejoice! Rejoice! in mirth and cheer, For Christmas tidings draweth near. II The star above doth shyneth clear, And shepherds wake the fields so near; They hear the angelsโ€™ silver song That glideth through the clouds among: โ€œGlory to God, in peace abide, For Love this holy night is spied.โ€ III O Mary mild, of maiden fame, Doth bear the Child of hallowed name; With Joseph true by candleโ€™s gleam, They guard the Hope of mans dream. O blessed hour, O blessed morn, When Salvation to earth was borne. IV Now bells ring in yon kirk tower, And snow falls soft in midnight hour; Let every soul in humble wise Lift heart and voice unto the skies. Sing praise! Sing praise! with voices bright, For Christ our Daystar crowneth night. V Come gather all in goodly hall, And share His peace both great and small; Let charity in bosom spring, For Love is Lord of everything. Now joy be yours this Christmas fair, And God keep all in tender care.
