I Hate Brexit
YeahâŠ
I hate Brexit â yeah, I said what I believe,
Broken promises, what did they achieve.
I hate Brexit â hear the words in the street,
A divided nation with a future incomplete.
I hate Brexit, yeah, the wound runs deep,
A promise made the country couldnât keep.
I hate Brexit â let history speak,
Brexit, in my eyes, was a national disaster,
But the consequences will come years after.
I loved my homeland, the place I was born,
Then Brexit came and left my heart torn.
Two politicians preaching corrupt untruths to their crowd,
Making big promises, talking out loud.
Farage and Boris Johnson, names that made the news,
Deranged politics, fake rhetoric convincing people to choose.
The truth got twisted, fake news headlines with impunity,
Promises of freedom, what? The UK has always been free
"Take back control" was the battle cry,
But freedom was already there â so why?
Propaganda rolling, messages non-stop repeat,
Millions convinced by the rhetoric theyâd meet.
Young and old caught up in the campaign,
While the consequences rolled in like winter rain.
I hate Brexit â yeah, I say what I believe,
Broken promises, disunification is what they achieve.
I hate Brexit â hear the words in the street,
A divided nation with a future incomplete.
I hate Brexit, yeah, the wound runs deep,
A promise made that the country couldnât keep.
I hate Brexit â let history prove,
My belief is it was a dreadful political move.
Now Iâm a self-exiled Brit, living in a EU country
Germany the nation where I found my sanctuary.
I look across Europe and I raise my hat,
Believing in the freedom that surrounds, I truly embrace that.
Spain, Italy, Greece, France on the map,
Jump in the car, no complicated travel trap.
Crossing borders, meeting people, moving free,
European unification means so much to me.
Freedom of movement, opportunities wide,
Different cultures standing side by side.
Thatâs the Europe I know, the Europe I embrace,
A continent of people with shared human space.
I embrace the EU, despite every flaw,
Because cooperation is what Iâm looking for.
Not walls between nations, no turning back,
But building bridges across the continentâs map.
I hate Brexit â yeah, I said what I believed
Broken promises with nothing achieved.
I hate Brexit â hear the words in the street,
A divided nation with a future incomplete.
I hate Brexit, yeah, the wound runs deep,
A promise made that the country couldnât keep.
I hate Brexit â let history prove,
It was an unacceptable political move
Populist politics rising again,
Nationalism dividing women and men.
History warned us what hate can create,
When fear gets louder and people separate.
Germany, Italy âfascist regimes perpetrated genocide
The darkest of chapters, Holocaust horrors, millions died.
We cannot forget what the past has taught us
Or let old divisions return to haunt us.
Wolves in sheepâs clothing, hiding their faces
Springing up like poison ivy in many places
Multicultural life is something we must defend,
A plethora of voices join together the wrongs they must mend
No room for racism, no room for hate,
No matter the country, no matter the state.
We must learn from history, never forget the truth
A better world starts when we teach our youth
Brexit brought separation,
There was no unification.
A country divided, a continent strained,
And many Brits wondering what was really gained.
The world has problems from Washington to Moscow,
Conflicts and tensions everywhere we go.
Trump, Putin âthese leaders created wars which are ravaging
Causing human, collateral, environmental disasters so damaging
Slamming doors closed to dialogue and peace,
We now live in a world where division and hatred increase.
Whatever our politics, whatever our creed,
We need each other more than ever, indeed.
I hate Brexit â yeah, I said what I believe
Broken promises, what did they achieve?
I hate Brexit â but I wonât spread hate,
Iâll speak for the future and challenge the fate.
I hate Brexit â let history speak,
Let the strongest voices stand up for the weak.
I hate Brexit â this is where I stand,
A Brit who once believed in his beautiful homeland
From Britain to Germany, Europe and beyond,
Diverse countries, populations, and politicians, must bond
Only when we choose correctly will governments learn
To never ignore history, it is there to educate before we all burn
I hate Brexit.
But I donât hate the human race
I turn the other cheek and will get slapped in the face
