Get scammed by Vanity, Hybrid, publishers, who? Hyenas, vultures, just scavenging their brains Pillaging their bank accounts and picking the remains Self-publishing, the option, and join the rest On Amazon, Kindle, it is their final test Millions of others sitting in the same nest Rejection, Rejection, Rejection The publisher’s favourite word Author’s dreams put to the sword Only J.K Rowling and Stephen King Are up for selection a limited elite ring “My book is amazing.” Any risk will be took Ask the family and friends to buy my book Five-minute wonders, fame at last by hook or by crook They then tell the world through social media  Then Vulture marketing platforms suddenly appear Demanding up-front fees, promising thousands of sales The Truth is different, dear oh dear As authors empty their bank accounts, and are left with only a tear Rejection, Rejection, Rejection The publisher’s favourite word Author’s dreams put to the sword Only J.K Rowling and Stephen King Are up for selection a limited elite ring Why do we write? It is our passion We are creatives and not interested in the latest fashion We dedicate our time creating a book, it is our ambition It is our love, our hobby, we only want recognition We only hear the publishers favourite word, rejection   Only the crème de la crème have a massive audience A tiny few are chosen not rejected, so what is the difference? A stroke of luck, or having the right connections? Is that the way to stop all the rejections Talent is not enough to get your book published A drop in the ocean with millions of others, discarded I write my books because I enjoy it If fame comes my way, I will embrace it But I will never strive to become Stephen King Why?
